Dr Daniel Vickers

BDS, MDSc, FICD, MRACDS (Orth)

Dan grew up in Mosman and went to St Andrews Cathedral School. After obtaining his Bachelor of Dentistry Degree from the University of Sydney, he headed to Canberra for three years to practice and be close to the snow fields. Wanting to explore more of the country, he worked as a locum in various parts of Australia before taking over a dental practice in North Rocks.

Dan’s interest in orthodontics led him back to the University of Sydney for postgraduate specialist training in orthodontics and he joined North Shore Orthodontics in 1985.

Dan has always been very involved with the dental community and orthodontic education throughout his career. He has taught orthodontics at the University of Sydney, in the postgraduate specialist program, since 1988. He has a special interest in and teaching of Early Orthodontic Care for Children. He has held numerous professional positions and is currently an active member on the committee of the Australian Society of Orthodontists Foundation for Research and Education.

 

Dr Peter Lewis

BDS, MDSc, MRACDS (Orth), FICD, FPFA

Peter grew up in Wahroonga and was educated at St Aloysius' College. Following his graduation from Dentistry at the University of Sydney, he gained over a decade of clinical experience, both in Australia and overseas. He then returned to the University of Sydney to follow his dream and achieve his specialist qualifications in orthodontics. Immediately after graduating he joined North Shore Orthodontics as a partner.

He is committed to orthodontic excellence, not only in his practices, but within the profession. He taught in the specialist orthodontic program for over a decade before accepting a role accrediting university specialist training programs within Australia and New Zealand.

Peter has held many professional positions and is currently the national President of the Australian Society of Orthodontist. Peter’s teaching interest and expertise lies in the Treatment of Difficult and Complicated Interdisciplinary Cases especially involving Adjunctive Surgical Care.

 

Dr Sheryn Deane

BDS (Hons), MDSc (Hons), FRACDS

Sheryn spent her early childhood years in Melbourne before her family moved to Turramurra. She attended Wahroonga Public School then Ravenswood School for Girls, where she was a prefect.

She graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery with Honours and was awarded the University Medal. After practicing dentistry in Shepparton, she returned to Sydney to work in private dental practice. She also contributed to the public sector through her work at the Westmead Centre for Oral Health and in teaching undergraduate dental students, at the same time completing her Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.

Sheryn returned to the University of Sydney and completed a Masters of Dental Science in Orthodontics with Honours. Her special areas of research were Root Resorption and Oral Appliance Therapy for the Management of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, on which she has published several papers.

 

Dr Justin Fong

BDS (Hons), MDSc, MOrth RCS (Edin), MRACDS (Orth)

Justin was born in the Hills District and attended Sydney Grammar School in Darlinghurst. After completing high school, he commenced his Bachelor of Dental Surgery Degree at the University of Sydney and graduated with Honours.

Justin worked as a Dental Officer, and subsequently as a Registrar, at the Westmead Hospital within the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department, the Paediatric Dentistry Department and the Department of Oral Medicine for almost two years before successfully completing the Primary Examination for the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.

His enthusiasm for orthodontics led him to undertake a postgraduate degree in orthodontics at the University of Sydney. After graduating as a specialist, he also attained Membership in Orthodontics with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.
